Composition

In our lesson, we were taught about different ways of composition and the way in which we look at a photo. There are many factors of composition that all give or take value from the picture, for example where the photo leads the eye first to last. Usually the warmest and biggest colours will draw most of the attention and give the effect that the warmer colours such as red, will appear to be towards the front and the colder colours to the back of the photograph.
The golden ratio/section is a way of dividing the photograph into different sections creating composition. It is visually appealing to the eye and corresponds to the Fibonacci sequence. There will be two evenly sized shapes together with another shape the size of them two added, then another shape that is the size of the previous two sized shapes added, for example there will be two 1x1 squares, the a 2x2 then 3x3 then 5x5 et cetra. Resembling the Fibonacci sequence of 1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21 and so on.

It is thought that if the components of the golden ratio fit to your face, you are supposedly better looking than someone who's face does not fit in to this. One example of a person who's face does fit is George Clooney.

Here is some of the work from when I tried to create composition using sharp diagonal lines and the golden ratio effect.
