Dark Room Experiment
Today, I tried the 'dark room' experiment with some class mates. One of us would hold a light and wave it round and make shapes with it, whilst the others took photos of it with different shutter speeds. Here are a few examples of some of the photos I took...This photo, was one of the first ones I took. I had the shutter speed at 1second and the aperture F3.3. This was taken towards the start of the experiment so the shapes were not as complex as the others, such as the following two photos. The person holding the light was called Lauren, so she tried to spell out her name with the light. it is not very clear, but I feel that it does have a similarity to the word...
For both of the photos, the shutter speed was 8seconds and the aperture was F3.3.
Depth of Field
The next experiment was to try to use 'depth of field'. This is having different objects or people in different areas of the picture, the foreground, middleground and background. At first I was struggling with how to change the settings to blur out different aspects, but then discovered that changing the aperture to a lower number (F3.3) focuses on the fore ground instead of focusing the whole picture. In this photo, the foreground object is the back to the bench (to the left of the photo), the middleground is the railing/bin and the background is the goalposts and the background trees.
